The projects completed by Medallion Developments Inc. are much more than just works-for-hire. The company serves as developer, manager and contractor on the majority of its projects, giving it a different perspective from many other builders.

“As one of the premier purpose-built rental housing developers in Ontario, we believe in taking a long-term approach to all of our projects, which has worked quite well for us,” Senior Development Manager Howard Paskowitz explains. “We make a commitment to the areas we develop in. We don’t see these as short-term investments – we are building long-term assets we will manage indefinitely.”

Karwood is a firm that can rely on its own resources, owner Greg Hussey says. “We have everything in-house,” he declares. “We have our own engineering firm, our own architects and technical designers. We’re pretty much a one-stop shop.”

Based in Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador, the company is an integrated land development, real estate, design and construction organization. A civil engineer by trade, Hussey founded Karwood in 1999 after gaining experience in the industry.

After more than 10 years of developing home sites in the greater Toronto area only to sell them to builders, Digram Developments Inc. a few years ago decided to take the old adage “if you want something done right, do it yourself” to heart.

“The quality that we wanted wasn’t being delivered to the marketplace,” says Mohsin Masood, a co-owner of the Markham, Ontario-based developer. “We felt that in the markets we are working in, there was a niche for high-end finishes and high-quality homes, so we  started our own building company.”

With a hip blend of residential and commercial space, the Central Park Village master-planned community is poised to become the new heart of Abbotsford, British Columbia, once it is completed. Residents already have responded with great enthusiasm for the development, and that was more than evident with the sales that greeted the community’s Hudson’s Loft 1 condominium building. According to Kevin Wiebe, CEO of developer The Wiebe Group, the first building was completely sold out by the end of the opening day sales launch, and that bodes well for the rest of the development as construction continues.

Seylynn Village is the largest residential project the District of North Vancouver has seen in 45 years.

“This project is my baby and I’ve been here from the conceptual stages,” Project Manager Pedram Hosseini explains. “It was a proud moment seeing the first residential tower go up.

“Our office is adjacent to the site and it’s close because we care.”

Seylynn Development LP was created under the Denna Homes umbrella to oversee the ongoing development of Seylynn Village.

Denna Homes is based in North Vancouver and is a partnership of experienced individuals with backgrounds in development for greater Vancouver.

When Performance Construction Ltd. serves its clients, it lives up to its commitments, Business Development Manager Allan Deans says. “We have the ability to deliver what we say we can deliver,” he says.

Based in Richmond, British Columbia, the general contracting and construction management company specializes in commercial and residential projects. Performance’s commenced operations in 2011 due the death of the majority owner of Progressive Builders, Milan Ilich. Upon the passing of Milan Ilich, the minority owners and senior staff of Progressive homes formed Performance Construction to move forward using the business practices employed by Progressive Builders.
